Anya Taylor-Joy heads for ‘Nosferatu’

Anya Taylor-Joy is reteaming with ‘Witch’ Director Robert Eggers for their next film, a remake of Nosferatu. Ready to get her teeth into something a little different, after starring in the surprise hit ‘Split’ earlier this year, Taylor-Joy will no doubt get herself a starring role, meaning that the script may change some since the original film in 1922.

Nosferatu is a rip off version of Dracula, which F. W. Murnau directed after he failed to secure the rights to the original book. Instead he changed a few names and details and released it anyway. Not surprisingly, Stoker’s heirs sued over the adaptation, and a court ruling ordered that all copies of the film be burned, which most were. A couple of copies managed to make it through unscathed. There was also a remake shot by Werner Herzog directed a 1979 and a faux biopic called Shadow of the Vampire in 2000, which showed Murnau hiring an actual vampire for his film.

Taylor-Joy is a real pleasure to watch, and so i’m excited to see where this leads. She is currently filming New Mutants, with the Split sequel, called Glass, next on her list. SO expect Nosferatu to start shooting at some point in 2018.
