Major Character Leaving the Walking Dead in Season 9

by | May 30, 2018

The walking dead has never been one to hold it’s punches, but it’s always had a core group of character of which we all knew would never die. Well, that was until AMC’s hit show killed of Carl Grimes in Season eight, and now it seems that the show will be losing it’s only surviving ‘Grimes’ when the new season comes around.

Whilst it has been rumor of late, collider has confirmed that Andrew Lincoln will definitely be leaving the show in it’s ninth season. After eight years of growling and scowling, the british born actor looks to dropping out to open his opportunities for bigger things (stuff…thaaangs!). Whilst the role could not be more important to fans, it seems that cast are just getting itchy feet. What this means for the future of the show, no one knows, but for sure, Lincoln will only be appearing in a half-a-dozen episodes of the upcoming season. Whether or not The Walking Dead can continue without its main star, who has been the very heart of the show since the start, AMC are certainly going to give it a good STAB!

Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, is also only appearing in a handful of episodes, but seems keen to continue the role, just in a less involved capacity, as her ABC pilot Whiskey Cavalier has been picked up and will be shooting around the same time. She told EW

“I’m going back There’s a lot more Maggie story to tell.”

As for the rest of the cast, it would seem that Norman Reedus is getting a pay boost, and will set him front and center for the shows main character.  Reedus, will get a $20 million increase to stay on AMC’s hit post-apocalyptic drama, firmly securing his character, Daryl Dixon, in the halls of immortality. When the bullets fly and the walkers bite, rest assure that Daryl will be well out of harm’s way.  After all, as the fan base saying goes… if Daryl dies, we riot!
