New ‘Candyman’ is Revealed!

by | Feb 27, 2019

Whilst it’s not been fully confirmed, it seems as if Jordan Peele may have found his leading man for the Candyman sequel/reboot. MGM are selling the film as a “spiritual sequel” to the original, returning to the neighborhood where it all began, the housing projects of Cabrini-Green. However the film will see the area as it is in  modern times, gentrified; The last of the buildings in Cabrini–Green were demolished in March 2011.

Whilst Tony Todd played the man with the hook in three films, it seems that Peele is eyeing up Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The actor appeared in Netflix’s Get Down, and will next be seen in Peele’s thriller Us. and in HBO’s Watchmen TV series. How he will measure up is yet be revealed, but lets hope he hits all the right notes (and maybe a few people).

‘Candyman’ will hit theaters on June 12th, 2020.
