The Purge is having a big year with a fourth film coming out and the recent announcement that Blumhouse is develop a television as well. Franchise creator James DeMonaco executive produces the shown with Blumhouse, Platinum Dunes, and Sebastien K. Lemercier, all at the helm. It seems that the film series is set to be a permanent fixture for a good few years to come as the series is set to launch alongside The First Purge this summer, for a double dose of mayhem. The planned TV show has just bagged it’s first cast members, with Gabriel Chavarria (War For the Planet of the Apes) and Jessica Garza (Six) cast as the leads.

Havarria will play Miguel, “a US Marine with a hard edge and a noble mission. After receiving a cryptic letter from his little sister, Penelope (Garzia), he returns to town on Purge Night – prepared to face the senseless violence in the streets alone in order to protect what he loves most – his family.”

Garzia’s Penelope “belongs to a Purge-worshipping cult. Having pledged herself to be sacrificed at the behest of their charismatic leader, Penelope’s faith is tested when she is exposed to the ghastly realities of the Purge.”

More casting news for the show as it comes.  Until then… purge well!
