Since Rob Zombie’s latest installment of his ‘firefly’ franchise  hit cinemas, we have been hearing news the legendary actor Sid Haig had to take a backstep form production due to poor health. Well it seems that things have taken a turn for the worse, as the legendary actor has passed away over the weekend.

Best-known as the murderous clown, Captain Spaulding, in Zombie’s movies (The Devil’s Rejects and House Of 1000 Corpses) Haig was prolific actor in both TV and film, dating back to the 60’s. His later years saw him supporting low-budget exploitation film as a menacing, always beaded, figure. This is where he crossed paths with Zombie. His earliest horror role was back in 1967 in the film Spider Baby or, the Maddest Story Ever Told, with his last screen appearance being in the just released “Three From Hell“, where he reprises his iconic role of Captain Spaulding.

The actor died on Saturday, September 21st, at 80 years young, according to an Instagram post by his wife Suzie.

All our prayers and hearts are with his family at this terrible sad time. For us fans, we will forever honor him as through the roles on which he brought us so much joy.

See you later Sid…save us a seat in the big ol’ cinema in the sky! You’ll be missed!
