‘Chucky’ TV Series Coming in 2021!

by | Jul 17, 2020

Howdy Horror Fans, I hope you are well today? We have some great news coming from the world of TV as franchise creator Don Mancini finally launches news on his long planned Child’s Play TV show, with a teaser trailer for his upcoming Child’s Play TV. SyFy dropped the teaser revealing that new show will be titled ‘Chucky’.

Originally announced back in 2018, Chucky is being developed with original franchise creator Don Mancini, and will be a continuation of the original film series. The great news for fans is that Brad Dourif will be returning to voice the Chuckster. As made obvious in the teaser that dropped yesterday. Original, the show was scheduled for a 2020 release, but has now been pushed back to 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Here’s the official synopsis from SyFy, and it sounds pretty awesome.

“After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster”

Mancini teamed up with Syfy and it’s official website Syfy Wire, back in may, for a Child’s Play watch party, where the director gave some insight into the show. He said:

“One of the things that we’ve always tried to do over the course of the decades and the different movies, is we just try to switch it up a lot… From film to film, I’ve always tried to create a different tone, plug Chucky into a different subgenre. We’ve gone from straightforward slasher to comedy to crazy satirical comedy and back to straightforward horror again.”

He continues…

“With this TV show, our mission has been to preserve the straightforward scariness of the original film or the first couple of films. But at the same time, continue on with this ever-expanding tapestry of consistent story that we’ve spun over the course of seven movies and 30-some years. I think fans are really gonna love to see the new characters that we introduce into this realm and just to see how they came off of our classic characters. Not just Chucky, but some of the others that you may be hoping to see. There’s a good chance they may turn up.”

Well there you have it. Expect to see some familiar faces through out the shows run. You can Check out the teaser below.

Alongside SyFy, the show will also air on will be airing on USA, and will be hitting us at some point in 2021.

I’m super excited about a Child’s Play TV series and I’m glad it’s on SyFy, who will give the show a good stab, unlike services such as Netflix that seem to be cancelling shows left right and center.
