Gary Dauberman Talks about ‘Salem’s Lot’

With news that a third adaptation of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot is under production, horror fans are already beginning to wondering about what direction producer James Wan will be heading. With two very good TV mini series adaptations already floating about in the world, could a single movie adaption do any better?

Writer Gary Dauberman chatted with Slashfilms this week, giving a brief insight into his horrifying plans for the vampire film. When asked about if he had a unique way into Salem’s Lot as a feature film, Dauberman replied…

I did have a unique way into it but again, I think the book in itself is unique. Certainly now, I haven’t seen a scary vampire movie in a long, long time and I’d really love to tackle that. It’s one of my favorite books. It’s one of my favorite Stephen King books. We felt it should have the cinematic treatment that we gave It. It was a miniseries as well. The experience of bringing that to the big screen was such a joy that I was so happy we will have the opportunity to do that for Salem’s Lot.

The book, which tells the story of a small town taken over by Vampires, and a writer who discovers this terrible turn of events, was King’s second published novel.

More news on this blood thirsty sucker as it hits!
