‘The Lost Boys’ Reboot Cast Announced

by | Feb 27, 2020

The CW have been trying to reboot 1987 vampire flick The Lost Boys for some time now, with a pilot being shot and rejected last year. A new pilot was quickly announced and now a cast has been assembled to bring the show to life. Deadline dropped the news that Branden Cook (Industry), Lincoln Younes (Grand Hotel) and Ruby Cruz (Castle Rock) have been cast as leads.

Cook will play Garrett, the older of two brothers who have moved with their mum to a North Carolina seaside community, where they discover that a group of Vampires, led by Benjamin (Younes) is feeding on the unsuspected townsfolk. Ruby will be playing Elsie, a female remember of the vampires who tempts Garrett into the groups grasp.

In The Lost Boys, written by Mitchell and Thomas and directed by Marcos Siega, when a mother and her Gen Z sons, one played by Cook, move to the seaside town where she grew up, they discover there’s a sinister reason the local cool kids sleep all day, party all night, never grow up and never get old. Family bonds are tested as the brothers find themselves on opposite sides of a mythological struggle.

Whilst it does seem that the story is pretty much the same as the Warner Bros. movie, the name changes might put some of the hard core fans off. But rest assured that a second pilot means that studio is just keen to get it right. Remember that even Game of Thrones went through two pilots to get to where it did.

More news as it comes, but I certainly hope they keep the kick ass role reversal of having the FROG SISTERS. That was a really cool idea!
