Amazon Considering 12+ MGM Franchises (Including Robocop)

by | Apr 15, 2023

Amazon has exciting plans to bring back over a dozen MGM franchises for both movies and TV shows, such as Stargate, and Legally Blonde. With their recent acquisition of MGM in March 2022, Amazon now has access to a wide range of popular franchises, from James Bond to Fame. This means that Amazon’s catalog will be packed with a variety of intellectual properties that will surely bring some fun to their audience. The excting new is that Robocop is one of thsoe filsm, and could be getting a TV series.

MGM produced a Remake of the classic Sci-Fi Robocop in 2014. Directed by José Padilha, the film featured a sleek black Robocop equipped with advanced technology worth $2 billion, presenting the future of law enforcement. The film attempted to update the satirical and stylistic elements of the 1987 film by Paul Verhoeven, but fell short of being as thought-provoking, clever, and witty as the original. Nonetheless, it still manages to offer more entertainment value than anticipated. Having Amazons larger budgets and growing crearive talents might just what the franchise needs to re-ignite the interest in cyborg crime enforcement.

Acording to Deadline, Amazon’s $8.5B acquisition of the massive Hollywood studio has given them a huge back catalogue of films and shows, and they are starting with a list of a dozen or so films, including Barbershop, The Magnificent Seven, Pink Panther and The Thomas Crown Affair.

More news on this just as soon as it’s blown up and resecrueted as a criminal fighting cyborg.
