Elise Returns in First Insidious: Chapter 4 Image
Are you ready to head back into The Further? Universal Pictures has released the first photo from Insidious Chapter 4, which is due out for release in October 20, 2017. The image, courtesy of EW, features returning franchise star Lin Shaye as Elise Rainier, who has appeared in all of the films to date. Insidious chapter 3 was a prequel that followed Elise some time before she encountered the Lambert family in the first film. Chapter 4 will continue where we last saw Elise in Chapter 3.

In may Lin Shaye shared a video that teased the film’s release. The Film features Lin Shaye flipping over a number of tarot cards, with series writer Leigh Whannell popping in too.
She also spoke with Daily Dead about the films time line:
“In general, it goes back to Elise’s beginnings. And you also meet Elise at a very different point in her life. It takes place right after the end of Chapter 3, when she walks off with Specs and Tucker and they’re starting their company, Spectral Sightings, and they are now living at her home. They’re like her two sons, her two bad sons [laughs].”
And also discussed how Chapter 4 will explore Elise’s past and introduce viewers to her family:
“So it starts out in a very jovial, happy place and then goes downhill from there [laughs]. And ‘downhill’ meaning ‘uphill,’ though. It’s a fantastic story and it took me back into what made Elise who she is. You meet my family, my mother, my father—we go back to my hometown, which is in New Mexico. And so that’s where this takes place and her quest to find the bad guy that’s been haunting her. It’s a really wonderful story. I think the fans will really, really enjoy it. And it’s scary on levels they’re not going to expect.”
So look forward to seeing more Elise and plenty of spooks in the next offering of Insidious next year!
