First Look at Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of the Dead’ Cast!

by | Jul 22, 2019

Zack Snyder wowed us all back in 2004 with the James Gunn-penned remake of Dawn of the Dead. For ages is seemed that the Zombie sub-genre was doomed, as more and more badly made straight to DVD zombie films flooded the market. Snyder showed us that a good budget and a kick ass script can really work wonders. Well hopefully Snyder will be pulling a few of his old tricks again, as he takes on his next film, Army of the Dead.

Our first look at the film arrived over the weekend with the below image of the cast, including Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Theo Rossi, Garret Dillahunt, Raül Castillo, Chris D’Elia, and Ana de la Reguera.

The adventure is set amid a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, during which a man assembles a group of mercenaries to take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantined zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted. The film is not a direct sequel to Dawn (that we know of yet) but could be much like George A. Romero’s ‘Of the living Dead’ films, where each film took place within the same cinematic world.

Snyder has not been behind a camera since 2017s Justice League, which he departed during post-production due to a family tragedy, but he said to be in good form and could even be acting as his own cinematographer on this. Snyders certainly got a keen eye and his work on films such as Watchmen and 300 are testament to his visual film making abilities.
Snyder Told THR that

“I love to honor canon and the works of art,but this is the opportunity to find a purely joyful way to express myself though a genre. It will be the most kick-ass, self-aware — but not in a wink-to-the-camera way — balls-to-the-wall zombie freakshow that anyone has ever seen. No one’s ever let me completely loose [like this]… There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one.”

Let’s hope it will an action field gore fest filled with tons of zombies and plenty of good humour.
