Heather Graham Joins ‘The Stand’

by | Oct 16, 2019

With a huge cast of characters, casting announcement for the The Stand have only just begun, with Deadline dropping one more big name into the mix. Heather Graham will be playing Rita Blakemoor, a character from the books that never showed up in the original mini series. This shows that writers Josh Boone and Ben Cavell have certainly set sights on making a more accurate version of Stephen King’s novel.

(Spoilers Moving Forward)

Rita Blakemoor is charcater that survvies Captain Trips and escape New York City with Larry Underwood through the Lincoln Tunnel. Yep, you may remeber that in the ABC mini series, this story was given to Nadine Cross, as was Rita’s pill habit. And if you ever wondered why this whole sub-plot was dropped past the Tunnel, that’s because Rita’s story ends abruptly after. Where Nadine leaves Larry in whilst he”s sleeping in the tent, the book see’s Rita overdose on pills and chokes on her own vomit. Poor Larry find’s her body the next-day, and it’s a pretty harrowing and nasty part of the story. Nadine shows up later with young “Joe” in tow, where they meet Larry in Maine. The TV-Miniseries gave this story to Lucy Swann.

Graham joins previously announced cast members James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Henry Zaga, Brad William Henke, Eion Bailey, Katherine McNamara, Hamish Linklater, Alexander Skarsgård and Whoopi Goldberg.

I’m sure we’ll here more casting soon as we have yet to find some of Randal Flags followers.
