Stranger Things Series 2 Announced
Grab your Millennium Falcons and get on your BMX, Stranger Things is getting a second season.
The Netflix smash hit has finally been given the green light for its next instalment after executives left us high and dry for a month over the shows fate.
Netflix does not release viewing figures for its shows, but it was obvious of it’s success through the huge promotion taking place. In the UK, leading up to the summer bank holiday, Netflix ran full page commercials in all of the local newspapers, along with TV spots playing throughout the day.
The show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, have openly spoken about having big plans for a second series, but Netflix bosses has been tight lipped on future plans .
But finally after an arduous wait, Netflix has finally broken the news with a cool new video, listing the 9 new episodes that have been ordered. Yes 9 new episodes, one more than the first series.
The episodes are
- The Boy Who Came Back to Life
- The Pumpkin Patch
- The Palace
- The Storm
- The Pollywog
- The Secret Cabin
- The Brain
- The Lost Brother
Just before the renewal news the brothers Duffer brothers also spoke at the Television Critics Association press tour.
“We kind of hint about where we might go at the end of the season,” he said. “Will was living in this upside-down other dimension for about a week. The repercussions of that can’t be good. And the inter-dimensional rift— at least how we left it— is still very much open. So that also can’t be good. So it’s exploring that. We want to retain the tone. But I think all our favorite sequels feel a little different. It’s not about just another monster comes and it’s a bigger, badder monster. We want it to feel a little bit different, maybe a little bit darker, but still have the sense of fun.”
The news comes as no surprise, but it’s good to know that it will be a continuation of the story rather than something new.
The show will return in 2017. You can watch the announcement trailer below.
