by | May 3, 2022

Are you afraid of the dark? Do you get the heebie jeebies just thinking about the unknown lurking out there in the shadows? Do you feel your pulse quicken and your skin crawl every time you see a face in the mirror? Do you spend your nights feigning sleep with a handheld light, ready to fling it into the face of whatever monster might be hiding in the closet? The answer is yes, yes, and yes. We can all relate to those feelings, which is why we’re going to explore the best new horror movies on Netflix UK right now. From classic ghost stories to nail-biting chills, these are the best new horror movies on Netflix in the month of MAY. Here is The Best New Horror Movies on Netflix UK – MAY 2022

New to Netflix in MAY 2022

1408 - Film Poster - Horror Land

1408 (2007)

The Stephen King Classic hits Netflix with a terrifying ghost story that will curdle your blood. Not for the faint of heart!

“A man who specializes in debunking paranormal occurrences checks into the fabled room 1408 in the Dolphin Hotel. As he settles in, he confronts genuine terror.”

Stars: John Cusack & Samuel L. Jackson.

3 From Hell - Film Poster - Horror Land

3 from Hell (2019)

The third film in the Firefly Franchise did not make as much impact as The Devils Rejects, but a lot can be explained when you realise that this was one of Sid Haig’s last films and re-writes had to cut his role down hugely. The change in pace can be felt, but it’s still a damn fine film and it’s on Netflix now!

“Crazed killers Baby Firefly, Otis Driftwood, and Foxy Coltrane unleash mayhem against unsuspecting victims after a prison break-out and a road-trip to Mexico.”

Stars: Sheri Moon Zombie, Bill Moseley & Sid Haig

Date Added: 1st May 2022

See for me (2021) - Film Poster - Horror Land

See for me (2021)

This tightly wound home-invasion thriller will surely entertain, even if it has taken most of it’s plot ideas from 2016’s Don’t Breathe.

“When blind former skier Sophie cat-sits in a secluded mansion, three thieves invade for the hidden safe. Sophie’s only defense is army veteran Kelly.”

Stars: Skyler Davenport, Natalie Brown & Laura Vandervoort

Date Added: 1st May 2022

Death Becomes Her (1992) - Film Poster - Horror Land

Death Becomes Her (1992)

The early 90s horror comedy returns to Netflix after a short hiatus from the streaming service. This hilariously dark film boats some pretty impressive VFX for it’s time, along with a wit so sharp and panful, it’s like giving yourself a paper cut and squeezing lemon juice on top. Add it to your watch list now!

“A writer and an actress hate each other for years as they have a crush on the same man. They secretly drink a miracle cure that prevents ageing and also turns them immortal.”

Stars: Meryl Streep, Bruce Willis & Goldie Hawn

Date Added: 2nd May 2022

A Haunting at the Rectory (2015) - Film Poster - Horror Land

A Haunting at the Rectory (2015)

This low-budget horror is the perfect thing for a lazy watch, with a plot that’s a little lack-luster. Don’t expect too much and you’ll have a ball!

“A Reverend and his wife discover their new home has a deadly secret.”

Stars: Lee Bane, Suzie Frances Garton & Tom Bonington

Coming: May 7th

Doctor Sleep (2019) - Film Poster - Horror Land

Doctor Sleep (2019)

This excellent film acts as both an adaption of Stephen King’s novel of the same name and a sequel to Stanley Kubrick’s film The Shining , based on King’s original novel. If you enjoy The Shining, you’ll love this grisly follow up that will surely send shivers down your spine… wait for that music to kick in (shivers)!!!

“While Danny Torrance struggles to overcome his traumatic past, he finds a little girl sharing his gift of the shine. Thereafter, he goes on a quest to protect her from the bloodthirsty True Knot.”

Stars: Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson & Kyliegh Curran

Coming: May 7th

The Amityville Theater (AKA Amityville Playhouse) (2015) - Film Poster - Horror Land

The Amityville Theater (AKA Amityville Playhouse) (2015)

I think we’ve all been stung by films with Amityville in the title, so don’t expect too much of this micro-budget offering that will haunt Netflix on may 7th.

“A teenager and her friends become trapped in a haunted theater with a disturbing connection to Amityville’s secret past.”

Stars: Monèle LeStrat, Linden Baker & Kennie Benoit

Coming: May 7th

Theater of Fear (2014) - - Film Poster - Horror Land

Theater of Fear (AKA The Midnight Horror Show) (2014)

This character studded horror drama should tantalise even the hardiest of horror fans as we take a trip into a homicidal circus on May 7th, as that’s when the tent goes up on Netflix.

“The Moreau Family travel around the UK putting on an underground variety show for an adult audience. But behind the curtain there is something more sinister going on than simple entertainment.”

Stars: Jared Morgan, Lee Bane & Nathan Head

Coming: May 7th

Curse of the Witching Tree (2015) - - Film Poster - Horror Land

Curse of the Witching Tree (2015)

This low key, emotionally packed British horror film has obviously taken a few plot points from various Witch based movies, but nerveless, weaves theses stole fancies into a dark tale that will leave your soul screaming.

“An innocent woman, hanged as a witch for allegedly murdering her son, curses the tree from which she is hung and all the children who play around it.”

Stars: Sarah Rose Denton, Lucy Clarvis & Lawrence Weller

Coming: May 14th

And that’s it for now. We’ll be back next month with another list of bloody frights hitting Netflix in June.
