The Toxic Avenger Gets a Reboot!

by | Sep 13, 2016

It looks like Sausage Party co-director Conrad Vernon is getting ready to clean up the town, as he heads up the live-action remake of Tromas greatest super hero, The Toxic Avenger!

Toxic Avenger tells the story of friendless Janitor Melvin Ferd, who accidentally falls into a barrel of toxic waste, turning into a muscle bound super hero. It was the film that “built the house of Troma” and was their very first step into the horror genre. It was a mega hit that spawned three film sequels, a stage musical production and a even children’s TV cartoon called The Toxic Crusaders.

Storyscape Entertainment are producing the more “grounded” version of the film, with the films creators, Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz of Troma Films, lending a hand as executive producers.

Deadline broke the news with a few words from Vernon.

The opportunity to re-imagine a favorite cult-classic from my high school years is an honor. Toxie is an underground icon. My favorite kind.

Exciting news for torma fans. The mop boy will be back!
