by | Aug 15, 2018

There are very few modern zombie films that actually managed to be worth watching, but the 2016 South Korean zombie apocalypse action thriller, Train to Busan, complete bucked this trend. It is an amazing film, filled with enjoyable characters, plentiful zombies, tons of action and cinematography to blow your mind. So it’s wonderfull new to hear that director Yeon Sang Ho is working on a follow up.

The story focused on a viral zombie outbreak in South Korea where  he passengers on a KTX train going from Seoul to Busan find themselves fighting for survival on the moving vehicle.

Train to Busan emerged as the most watched film in Korea in 2016 making over 10-million ticket sales So it’s no wonder that a sequel is being planned. The hot news comes courtesy of by K-pop news website soompi.  Yeon Sang Ho said this…

“It’s still in an early stage, so there’s nothing decided yet. There’s just an early version of the scenario, and the working title is ‘Peninsula,'”

So it looks like the main setting will be a city rather than a train this time around. so do expect a more traditionalist zombie film, with the polish and style of the first movie.  Filming is slated to begin in the first half of next year, so we will keep our eyes and ears close to the ground on this one.
