Evil Dead 4 Will Release On HBO Max

by | May 27, 2021

The next film in The Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead Rise, is heading to streaming service HBO Max, as it looks set to skip theatres entirely. The new film is being produced by New Line Cinema and Sam Raimi, with shooting scheduled to start next month in New Zealand. Whilst many fans would have loved to have seen the new film  on ten big screen, it seems that is now off the cards.

Fans have already had one blow, upon hearing that Ash Williams will apparently not be back in the next Evil Dead movie either, though Bruce Campbell remains on board as an executive producer, and avid spokes person for the new project. Campbell has officially retired the character after the TV series, Ash vs Evil Dead, failed to get a fourth season on STARS.

Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings) and Lily Sullivan (Picnic At Hanging Rock) head up the cast as a pair of sisters whose family reunion is interrupted by demonic entities. Lee Cronin (The Hole In The Ground) is directing. The reboot of the franchise will take the series in a new fresh direction.

Funny thought of the day, but I hope that streaming services don’t become the direct to DVD route of modern cinema.
