It looks like Sony’s planned remake of Flatliners is moving ahead, as the film bags two stars eager to dice with death.

Director Niels Arden Oplev, who last big film was “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” back in 2009, will be the big man in charge, which is really no clear indication of the films direction. It’s certainly not great news, as Oplev film experience is pretty slim, and none have ever been hugely successful.

The Good news is that Sony have managed to grab at least one big name and one up-and-coming star to fill the roster. Ellen Page will more than likely be our big lead, with Diego Luna filling in one of the other roles. Luna has just wrapped the shoot for the first big Star Wars spin off, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”.

The original film starred  Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, William Baldwin, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon as five medical students experiment with “near death” experiences that invoke past tragedies in their lives.

No real news on when the film will start shooting, but we have been told that the film will have a cast of three women and two men.
