Mark Hamill is Our New Chucky

by | Apr 1, 2019

With a remake of Child’s Play on it’s way to the big screens this year, the big question on our lips was “who will voice Chucky?”. Well Horror Fans, the question was answered this weekend at WonderCon where none other than Mark Hamill revealed himself to be our new Good Guy! Outside of the Starwars films, which he is famous for playing Luke Skywalker, Hamill has had a very successful career in voice acting, with his biggest achievement so far being his long 27 year run as the “Clown Prince of Crime” the Joker, which he last played in the animated film version of The Killing Joke, in 2016. With that in mind, it’s fair to say that Hamill is no stranger to playing the villain. However, the cursing, violent and completely off the rails character of Chucky is a far cry from The Joker.

Brad Dourif continues to voice Chucky in the ongoing “original” film series; and he’ll even be returning to the role for a planned TV series, so whilst we have gained an awesome name to the Child’s Play franchise, we have not lost out on the crazy cackling wonder that is Dourif’s Chuck. Hamill will be voicing one of the new ‘Buddi’ dolls that goes by the name of Chucky, in the remake of Child’s Play due out June 21st, 2019

The film’s official synopsis reads:

Child’s Play follows a mother (Aubrey Plaza) who gives her son (Mike and Gabriel Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.”

Yep, one thing is for sure, Chucky will be returning to our screens this year, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be disappearing from our lives at any point soon.
