Road Warrior ‘Turbo Kid’ Sequel Planned

by | Feb 6, 2020

I don’t care who I need to fight over this, one of the best post apocalyptic films of recent years is the 2015 film Turbo Kid. The film is an 80’s drenched blood bath that’s easily comparable to some of Peter Jackson’s early films. What’s not to like? The film stars Munro Chambers as The Kid, a comic book fan who dons “power armor” to become like his comic hero Turbo Rider. He faces off against a ruthless wasteland warlord called Zeus (Michael Ironside) to save his newly found friend Apple (Laurence Leboeuf ).

Directors Yoann-Karl Whissell, Anouk Whissell, and François Simard still have plans to make a sequel, despite it being five years since the film first was released. Producer Ant Timpson spoke with Bloody Disgusting’s Boo Crew Podcast, where he spoke about their plans.

Well look, that’s been a long time coming… There’s a script for Turbo Kid 2. We want to make it, that’s all I can say… It’s really a case of finding the backers because it’s way more ambitious. It’s kind of like Road Warrior‘s step up from Mad Max. It’s sort of that kind of ambition…you need a little bit more money than we had for the first film. They want to make that a dream project.

Whilst it seems they have a script ready to go, it’s unclear at this point if it’s a direct sequel starring Chambers and Leboeuf, or if it’s a new film set in the same world. Either way, I’m super excited to be heading back to the wasteland to get some 80’s synth on. More News when it rears its ugly head! Until then enjoy the official music video for the original film, starring Laurence Leboeuf, reprising her role as Apple and kinda acting like a prequel to the film…enjoy!
