Guy Ritchie’s British gangster film Snatch is one of the most loved british comedies, with a huge fan following and more quotable lines than you could shake a dog toy at (Dags). It comes as no surprise to learn that Sony have just announced they will be producing a 10 part TV series, for their free steaming service Crackle. Never heard of Crackle? Your’e not the only one. In a strange ironic turn, Crackle is only available in the US. Yes, a TV series based on a BRITISH comedy will not be shown in the UK. Well, at least not yet.

Snatch featured an ensemble cast, including Jason Statham, Benicio Del Toro and Brad Pitt.  The film contains two intertwined plots: one dealing with the search for a stolen diamond, the other with a small-time boxing promoter. The TV series will be loosely based on the real life Brink’s Mat robbery, where robbers discovered £26M in gold bars, instead of the £3M in cash that they were expecting.

Much like the television series, ‘Fargo,’ Crackle will carry the spirit of the setting in the original feature film, while creating a new world born from the original movie. Informed by a real life gold bullion heist in London, the show centers on a group of twenty-something, up and coming hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of organized crime. The boys must quickly learn to navigate the treacherous waters of London’s underworld as rogue cops, gypsy fighters, international mobsters and local villains descend.

No Casting news or release dates just yet, nor any word if Guy Richie will be involved in the series, but lets hope that by the time the show is airing, the UK will get an opportunity to see the it as well.
