Lets face, the suicide squad is one of those titles that only comic book fans would have heard of. If it was not for the inclusion of a certain super villain, this film would probably gone under everyone’s radar. For the uninitiated, Suicide Squad is an team of incarcerated supervillains who work for United States government, undertaking high-risk black ops missions in exchange for commuted prison sentences. The cinematic version of these antihero includes Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Rick Flagg, Captain Boomerang (I’m not making this up!) , Enchantress, Killer Croc ,Katana and Slipnot. Half of which ive never heard of.
The Main pull for this film is the inclusion, and probably brief appearance, of the Clown Prince of Crime, The Joker, making his first appearance since 2008’s The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger won a posthumous Academy Award for his interpretation of the character, so his successor has to pull something very special off. The man stepping into the clown shoes is none other than Jared Leto, in a more comic inspired look. Whilst we have had a few images released, the trailer for the suicide squad give us our first look at his performance, and it’s quite mesmerising.
The Suicide Squad will see the antihero team form to save the world August 5, 2016 with an ensemble cast featuring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne and Viola Davis.
And for an extra bit of info, the song playing in the background is a cover version of the Bee Gee’s ” I Started a Joke” , performed by CMX, with Becky Hanson on vocals. It’s getting released next week!
