There has been a lot of speculation and rumor this week, that “The Exorcist” would be remade, after Deadline broke the news that Morgan Creek was selling up. Morgan Creek Productions is selling the domestic rights to 78 films, include, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, True Romance and Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves. However fan’s of the 1973 horror become worried when they heard that.
“As part of any sale, Morgan Creek would retain remake rights for five titles — Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Major League, Young Guns,Flying Tigers and The Exorcist franchise — but pay a percentage of the gross profit to the new owner of the library.”
But it was original writer and director, William Friedkin , reassured fans about the Exorcist Remake.
I mention it only in passing, but I don’t believe Morgan Creek has rights to THE ORIGINAL, only the so-called sequels.
