Black Christmas Fan Sequels Scores Original Star

by | May 8, 2023

The 1974 slasher film Black Christmas is getting a surpsiing fan-made sequel and they have justd announced that Olivia Hussey will be reprising her role as Jess Bradford.

The original film told the tale of sorority sisters being stalked by a mysterious killer over the Christmas holiday. The film never recived a sequel, instead, fans had to make do with two remakes, one in 2006 and another in 2019. To recitify this, directors Bruce Dale and Dave McCrae created a short-film that acted as a follow up, called It’s Me, Billy. The planned sequel called It’s Me, Billy Chapter 2 will feature Hussey, continuing a trend of final girls returning to their franchise years later. Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween) and Neve Campbell (Scream) have both returned to thier franchsie chracaters in recent years.

Dale and McCrae told Collider

“It’s Me, Billy was always designed to be the first part of a two-part story, hence the cliffhanger ending. It was always our hope that we’d get a chance to complete our vision and bring this story to a conclusion. Now is that time. We are excited to invite horror fans from around the world to help us complete the final step of our journey, one that will continue to pay honor and respect to the incredible legacy of the original Black Christmas and everyone involved in the making of that film.”

It’s Me, Billy: Chapter 2 is due to start shooting at the end of the year and will be released in 2024 for Black Christmas’ 50th anniversary. It will be available online for free just like Chapter 1. You can check out the crowdfunding trailer below.
