Jodie Foster Recalls Her Favorite Memory on Set of Silence of the Lambs

by | Feb 2, 2021

As the 30th anniversary of The Silence of the Lambs approaches, actress Jodie Foster has recently shared her most favorite moment from filming the psychological horror film. Foster has a very successful and busy career, starting out as a much sought after child actress, who’s memorable turns including Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver, Bugsy Malone and Freaky Friday. However,  it was her amazing turn as Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs, that made her a household name.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Foster talks about her most memorable moment during the movie’s shoot.

“I think my most memorable moment was the Super Bowl party that we had while we were shooting, which wasn’t really a party. It was just me and a boombox in my house, with a lot of people dropping by. You know, hitting ‘play’ when I want to go to the next song, dancing, it was snowing outside in Pittsburgh. You know, those are the highlights I remember from making films… You have to love what you do, and you have to find joy in it to go to the dark places.”

Whilst her best memory had nothing to do with the film’s actual production, it’s clear that she had a great time offset. She went on describe what it was like working with Anthony Hopkins.

“The biggest thing that comes to mind is really the relationship between me and Tony Hopkins in the film and those scenes that we did when he was behind bars and I was on the other side. The feeling that I had of that, when you know that you’re doing something, that is really important and it’s really real.”

It’s amazing that the film is still being talked about after 30 years, and with the  upcoming CBS series titled Clarice to debut in February, it looks like we’ll be chatting about The Silence of the Lambs for many years to come.
