It’s been a long road, but the journey is finally getting started, as principal photography of The Dark Tower has began.

At CinemaCon 2016, being held at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, Sony revealed a few pieces of production art work and told jubilant Stephen King Fans that filming had started. The production has been on rocky feet for many years, with plans of a series of films and a TV series hitting financial walls. It was only when sony allowed for a SINGLE film, that the project got going.

Even recent casting announcements were not enough to encourage us that the film was actually happening, as another king adaptation, IT, had fallen through at this stage. Stars Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey will be going head to head with young Tom Taylor getting Roland started on his journey towards the Dark Tower.

Rumor is that the film will mostly be set in the real world, where Jake Chambers (Taylor)  encounters the Gunslinger (Elba) who is hot at the heals of his arch nemesis The Man in Black (McConaughey). Whilst it’s quite a departure from it’s source novel, we are led to believe that Rolands journey will be the same, and Jakes fate could be identical to the book.

It’s a long road, but it looks like the film is finally underway, and we cant wait for the films release next year.
