Black Christmas (1974)

A Christmas party in a sorority house, a telephone killer and rising body count, Black Christmas is the early home invasion film that will certainly put the chills back in your Christmas celebration. Coming from an age where the rules of horror were not set in stone, no one is safe from the killers wrath. From virgins to the last-girl, there are no guarantees they will survive, making it a truly supreme slasher.

Christmas Evil (1980)

A terrifying tale about a toy maker turned psycho who goes on a yuletide killing spree! One of the first films that featured a Santa Claus dressed killer, making it one of the more obviously festive thrillers. Christmas Evil is a slow burning horror, but the intensity of the killer more than makes up for any lack of pace.

Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)

After witnessing his parents murder by a criminal dressed as Santa Claus, a man goes on a crazed murderous rampage. This classic story about a shopping center Santa that snaps set standards in creative kills. There are better killer Santa movies, but this one certainly is the more graphic of early yuletide horrors.

Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 (1987)

Being one of the first Christmas horror sequels, Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2, was followed by five sequels. Part 2 upped the ante in creative kills and crazy acting, making it a truly entertaining Christmas candy.

Gremlins (1984)

Hotly debated as to whether or not it actually is a Christmas film, Gremlins is a story about a boy who revives a rather unusual gift. Being one of very first “tiny terror” films, Gremlins is filled with chills and spills as a bunch of crazy creatures terrorize a town. As to it being a Christmas film, recent DVD/Blu-ray releases come packaged in a cover depicting a wrapped box with ribbons, with a Santa hat wearing Gremlin bursting from the corner, just to hammer the point in. Yes..of course it’s a Christmas film.

After 1,000 years of good cheer, Santa’s is finally free of abet he made. Rather than be the jolly, gift giving man we all thought he was, he’s actually a devil. This goofy but surprisingly smart film, is sure to be killer hit on your Christmas list.

An ‘archaeological’ dig has just unearthed the real Santa, and he’s really mad. This Finnish film is clever blend of Christmas horror and comedy, making it an entertaining thriller for all to enjoy. Showing the dark side of old Saint Nick, this oddball film is a real treat.
